Marokko - Yoga & Wandelen

Marrakech & Atlas Mountains: YOGA &  Walking … 8 days from airport Marrakech to airport Marrakech € 740 p/p. 5 days of very nice walking and the opportunity to try out Kundalini yoga with Tim Schipper
  Including: transfer form / to the airport, 2 nights in Marrakech medina and 5 nights in the High Atlas Mountains in Berber guesthouses. In the mountains all meals are included and in Marrakech your welcome diner. Prices excluding your flight to Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK)
  * more nights in Marrakech “before or after” in a nice and small Riad hotel in the old city center: € 65,- per night for a double room / € 45 per night for a single room. If you like more luxury – upgrades are possible as well. Riad is Arabic for garden; these former mansion houses house have a small garden or patio for freshness. The Moroccan architecture with walls to protect form the outside makes them a heaven of silence in the middle of the crowded city.

Tim will introduce you to Kundalini Yoga. No pre-yoga experience is needed, he can teach you on the level you like. In the middle of nature, on a nice roof top terrace or even on top of Morocco's highest mountain Mount Toubkal. It will make you able to enjoy even more with all new impressions in the magic city of Marrakech and the colorful Atlas Mountains. In Marrakech and in the Atlas Mountains you go for nice walks: to discover the magic city and the impressive High Atlas mountains. In Marrakech all your senses are tingled. New views, colors, smells and medieval history. Combined with the ordinary daily life sucked with mint tea and Islamic traditions it’s all so different from what we are used to. With our own group we discover Marrakech with nice walks in a relaxing way. Off course we will visit traditional spots like the Koutoubia, the famous Medressa Ben Youssef and the Bahia Palace. Bu we take you also through the small streets and alleys of the souks. To one of the nice gardens of Marrakech or the places where you can find one of the many holy tombs. And when we get tired … in our nice and quiet Riad hotel we can start already with some relaxing yoga on the roof terrace or in one on the nice gardens of Marrakech.
Morocco is all the way in and Marrakech is totally hot. Not only literally but also metaphorically. In May and October temperature is nice. Towards the end of September the first snow might hit the High Atlas Mountains. In Marrakech the famous city in the South of Morocco some cooler temperatures are really welcomed. In summertime the High Atlas Mountains are the run away for the Marrakchi who like to fly away for the city heat. In May and October in the mountains life is as normal as it can be. In the High Atlas Mountains we will meet and be sucked in the traditions and daily peace of the Berber people. In the mountains the Berbers live in small, steep hill, villages, harvesting their small terraces with some oat and barley, in the middle of ancient walnut trees accompanied by young fruit trees like cherry and apple. Most of the families still have one cow to provide some milk and a few sheep ... Mules in this area are not only used to transport luggage for tourists walking up Morocco’s highest mountain – Jebel Toubkal (4.167m) - or to make a more simple walk around the valleys and villages.
Mules are a mix of donkey and horse. These strong animals and are used to plow the vulnerable soil on the steep mountain hills. Mules cannot reproduce themselves and can become more then 20 years old. This makes them very expensive too. Their uniqueness provides them with the power of a horse and the mountain legs of a little donkey. In the High Atlas Mountains you will enjoy every breath you take and you will be grateful to be there with Tim Schipper to teach you how to relax even more. In this special traditional mountain life atmosphere, only 70 kilometers form Marrakech, we will spent our time in the middle of nature and traditional culture surrounded by the colorful and huge mountains. A complete 8 day program from airport to airport with 2 nights in Marrakech and 5 nights in the Atlas Mountains. Focus on discovering nature and culture. Walking, yoga, relaxation and nice and simple food. Combing the nice things of beautiful nature with Moroccan culture and traditional ‘culinaires’.
Day 01 - Arrival at the airport of Marrakech Transfer to our small Riad hotel in the old city centre, “medina” of Marrakech. Visit Marrakech as you like and enjoy some Yoga practice on the rooftop terrace of our nice Riad hotel. In the evening we will join our diner in one of the food stalls at famous Jemaa el Fna.
Day 02 – Visit Marrakech Free for visiting Marrakech palaces, museums, souks & more. Walking through Marrakech in a relaxed way. Yoga practices as you like.
Day 03 – Transfer to the mountains – walk to the isolated Berber village of Tacheddirt over the pass Tizi-n-Eddi. Upon arrival enjoy we can enyoy yoga with a breath taking view from our terrace.
Day 04 – Mountain view yoga & walking Today we have the whole day to be in the mountains and relax. We will do some walking around the villages as well and have a nice pick nick outside. At our huge mountain view terrace we will have special yoga exercise with a brilliant sunrise and set – in sha’allah. At night do not forget to have a look at the stars.
Day 05 - Mountain view yoga & walking. We will move on to the vialle of Aremd. Another full day for breath taking views, yoga exercise and  a nice walk into the mountains.
Day 06 - Mountain view yoga & walking In the morning you can start up with yoga before we will walk to our highest accommodation: Toubkal mountain hut. With a pick nick on the raod in the middle of nature.
Day 07 – To day you can give it a try to reach the highest summit in Morocco. But be prepared it is a real long walk if you like to go up to the summit and walk the whole way down to Aremd.  But the rewarding views will copy for that. In teh evening you will even more enjoy your Moroccan meal :-)
Day 08 - Our last mountain view breakfast and yoga exercises.
And then slowly we start saying goodbye to the mountains. On our way back to the city there is the opportunity to visit a local market. In Marrakech we go directly to the airport for those flying home today.

Price & Period This trip is organized twice a year in May and October. In Marrakech you stay in a nice small Riad hotel near the famous square Jemaa el Fna. A nice rooftop terrace breakfast is included. In the mountains we are accommodated in simple but comfortable Berberguesthouses. All meals are included, except for some dinners and the lunches in Marrakech. Price excluding your flight: € 740,- p/p

NB in winter time - January, March & November – Maroc Travel organizes the same kind of trip south of Agadir in the Anti-Atlas. Here the mountains are a little lower but no less astonishing. Temperature is a little higher, we are close to the Sahara desert here, so we make some ‘bivaques’ in the middle of nature as well. Near the palm trees and amazing sand dunes …
